Adams & Fay Inks

Old Ink Bottle Companies & Their History

Herman S. Adams and Byron Fay were a Cleveland Ohio company producing ink in the 1870s. In 1872 they registered two designs for mucilage bottles, one embossed with the words "Government Mucilage." The other one was unembossed. Most of the ink bottles from this company are marked. A & F inks are known in several styles of turtle inks marked A&F. They also have a bottle embossed "Viola Ink".

The Umbrella Ink above is marked A&F on the base.
