At an auction last week, a bottle dealer I recognized was bidding on everything I wanted. Every time I bid him up,   he outbid me and won the auction. 

During the auction preview, I saw a dirty dug Hutchinson soda bottle.  I was not even going to pick it up until  I saw someone else look at it.  Out of idle curiosity, I examined it.  Imagine my surprise in seeing it was from a small town in Wyoming. I wondered how this bottle got to Ohio.  The owner said he had dug the bottle in Wyoming  on a bottle hunting expedition.  I knew that Western hutches can bring some pretty good money, so I determined to stay until this bottle came up for bid.  As expected, the other dealer got in on the bidding.   I took the bottle all the way to $25 which is a typical price for the average Hutchinson soda and the other dealer dropped out.

At the time, I did not know  good the bottle was BUT I was to distinguish it from the other junk sodas.  I subsequently sold the bottle for ten times what I had paid.
