Subject: Green bottle

Dear Digger, I was given a bottle by my grandma, who got it from a very old friend, who always remembered it having been around. So pretty old. I'd love to know more about it. It's about nine or ten inches high and made of green glass that is full of tiny bubbles. The neck of the bottle is slightly flared. It has a stopper that stands about three inches above the top of the bottle's neck. The stopper, also made of green glass, is flat on one side and has a raised face on the other. The circle of the stopper is about two inches in diameter. The bottle has a raised decoration made to look like arms with the hands clasped in front, so that altogether, it looks like a person with a head. My grandma says it was known as the "people bottle"; she thinks it was Norwegian, and had something to do with a pagan custom of capturing souls in bottles. Something that may be "H 326" is scratched or cut on the bottom. There is also a mark on the bottom such as a blown glass piece bears from the rod. I haven't been able to find out anything else, but I can send you a picture if it would help. Can you tell me anything about it? Claire
