Over the last 70 years innumerable bottles have been blown for sale in gift shops, museum shops while others have been make by unscrupulous scoundrels out to make a quick buck from someone else’s ignorance or gullibility. Sometimes even the experts get fooled, but with a little practice and knowledge most collectors can protect themselves from a foolish investment in a bad piece of glass. Over the next few months on this website, I will publish a series of articles highlighting bottles which are often confused with old bottles. This month, I will focus on Wheaton bottles as these are among the most common reproductions still on the market.

On display are Mason jars, paperweights, Tiffany masterpieces, and thousands of other glass objects which illustrate the history of glass blowing in this country.

WHEATON MINIATURES

BLUE MINIS

All of the Wheaton Miniatures are reproductions of the larger bottles. Most of these were made in the late 1960's or early 1970's. Note from a reader: This quote from your web site is not quite true. I had several dozen of these little bottles in the mid-late 1950's. This I know, because I had them for MANY years before I was married in the early 1960's. I still have the turquoise Ball & Claw Bitters bottle. I got rid of all my others in about 1967. I kept the one because it was my favorite color. Just thought that you would like to know. Lou
